A vision technician works with an ophthalmologist to do eye examinations, gauge eye function, and provide a diagnosis for treating eye illnesses and diseases. Other duties of the vision technician include teaching patients how to put on and take off contact lenses, educating them on proper contact lens hygiene, and scheduling contact lens wear by an ophthalmologist's prescription. Clinical duties include taking vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examinations, and dispensing ophthalmic prescriptions. Blindness and visual impairment remain serious public health issues. To prevent preventable blindness, primary eye care treatments must be accessible and readily available. because for this reason, the Government of India is promoting an integrated health care system that includes primary eye care, and vision centers at the level of community health centers and primary health centers are being constructed on a priority basis.
