Hemodialysis technicians, sometimes referred to as dialysis technicians, provide patient care to individuals with end-stage renal disease (permanent kidney failure), also known as dialysis patients. These technicians work in tandem with a doctor or nurse to provide this treatment. Kidney dialysis removes metabolic waste from the blood. The kidneys normally take care of this, but in cases where the kidneys are injured, a patient may require renal dialysis as a kind of treatment. Hemodialysis technicians work in clinics, hospitals, and dialysis centers under the supervision of a licensed nurse or physician. While treating a large number of patients, hemodialysis technicians frequently stand for the majority of their shifts. While every job is different, hemodialysis technicians frequently work a variety of schedules and hours.
